چکیده
To determine whether patients with Age related macular degeneration (ARMD) benefit from cataract surgery in terms of best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and to assess impact on progression ARMD. : A prospective study was carried out without ARMD undergoing at our department. Patients were divided into two groups- Group (cases) B (controls) other retinal pathology. BCVA cases recorded day 1, 14, 1 month 1/month compared that controls. significantly improved but markedly less than experienced by control eyes. No increased incidence wet form Cataract is safe no evidence complications or rates disease advancement.

Purpose. To evaluate the visual outcomes and effect of phacoemulsification surgery on the progression of neovascular age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Methods. Retrospective, noncomparative, and interventional case series. Thirty eyes from 29 subjects with neovascular AMD treated with intravitreal antivascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) injections who underwent phacoemulsification a...

PURPOSE To assess the association between age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and previous cataract surgery. METHODS We studied 17,987 randomly selected participants from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey who were aged ≥40 years and underwent additional ophthalmologic examinations in 2008‒12. The associations between previous cataract surgery and early/late AMD wer...

PURPOSE To evaluate psychophysical and electrophysiologic responses in eyes with early age-related macular degeneration (AMD) without a decrease in visual acuity and with or without late AMD in the fellow eye. METHODS Fifteen patients (mean age: 67.9 +/- 7.20 years) with early AMD in both eyes (AMD1 group, 15 eyes) and 15 patients (mean age: 71.40 +/- 7.06 years) with early AMD in one eye and...

Background: We aimed here to investigate the association between alleles and genotypes of APOE and Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) development. Materials and Methods: After ophthalmological examination, 120 patients with confirmed AMD and 120 healthy controls were enrolled in the study. The polymorphic segment of APOE gene was PCR-amplified and sequenced to determine the frequency distr...
متن کاملFunctional Visual Acuity in Age-Related Macular Degeneration
PURPOSE We evaluated whether a functional visual acuity (FVA) system can detect subtle changes in central visual acuity that reflect pathological findings associated with age-related macular degeneration (AMD). METHODS Twenty-eight patients with unilateral AMD and logMAR monocular best corrected VA better than 0 in both eyes, as measured by conventional chart examination, were analyzed betwee...
